Ajit Deshpande, Forté Capital LLC partner and portfolio manager, has been asked to serve on the Advisory Board of the recently established Pamela York Klainer Center for Women and Business in the Jones School of Business at the State University of New York at Geneseo.  Named for Dr. Pamela York Klainer, noted author, founder of Power and Money, LLC, and an alumna of SUNY Geneseo, the Center will offer courses for undergraduates that deepen their understanding of challenges unique to women working in the business world as well as internships, mentoring experiences, and opportunities to strengthen skills that are valuable in business settings. The Center will also conduct and publish research about women and men in the workplace, and will hold conferences and other events open to the business and general community.

In this, its first year, the Klainer Center is hosting a competition for teams of business students to develop the best business plan for a product launch of a book.  In addition to his duties as a member of the Advisory Board, Mr.Deshpande has agreed to participate as a member of the panel of judges charged with evaluating ten teams of students who are submitting their marketing plans for this competition with the added incentive of $25,000 in prize money to be awarded to the top three teams.

“The Klainer Center will be a first-of-a-kind resource in the Northeast,” said Mary Ellen Zuckerman, dean of the Jones School of Business at SUNY Geneseo.  No other educational institution in our region has focused on gender and business, so this is a vital contribution we can make to our region and the nation.”
